ULM goes cold after hot start in USA loss
The run of conference play began on Thursday night for the Warhawks as the played host to the USA Jaguars. While the Jaguars entered the game with their first conference win, last week against Arkansas State, ULM continued to look for their first Sun Belt victory. After 40 minutes, ULM is still looking as they fell 55 - 45.
ULM (2-11, 0-4) led for all except the final 5:31 when USA (9-5, 2-3) ended the game with a 12-2 run for the final. During that run, the Warhawks added to their 26 turnover total and added several costly offensive fouls.
The Warhawks shot out of the gate, scoring the game's first seven points before USA's Camille Reynolds jumper put the jaguars on the board. ULM would struggle from the floor though, as they suffered through a 4:24 scoring drought before again getting the offense going, building a 10 point lead with just over nine minutes to play. During the scoreless streak by ULM, USA chipped away at the lead, cutting it to just four at the intermission, but never led.
ULM was led in scoring by Ashleigh Simmons with 12 points, surpassing her 9.2 season average. She also fell just short of a double-double with eight rebounds. Also in double-digit scoring was Alexar Tugler, who finished with 10 points.
