January 26, 2013ULM had a season high of 75 points. That high was set in the Warhawk's only Sun Belt Conference win of the season at Troy. On Saturday afternoon, they set a new mark, again against the Trojans, and again for a conference win, as they pulled out a 79-74 victory.
After holding Troy (3-16, 0-10) to a long scoring drought in the first half, ULM (4-15, 2-8) found themselves in a second half fight, as they went over five minutes without a basket, allowing the Trojans to pull within two points. Junior Jasmine Shaw led the Warhawks with 19 points, including 13 in the opening half. Also in double-digit scoring were Ashleigh Simmons (17) and Alexar Tugler (10). Christina Gray was just short of a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Warhawks took the opening tip-off and went on to dominate the first half with a 19-2 run to build a 48-33 halftime lead. The run and six minute scoring drought for Troy was enough to help the Warhawks to erase early turnovers that helped the Trojans to build a seven point lead just five minutes into the game.
ULM now takes to south Florida for a pair of games this week, facing Florida Atlantic on Thursday, and FIU on Saturday.
