Hot handed Dawgs too much for ULM
The hype of a sold-out game and basketball from ULM's hay day were marketed for the Sunday afternoon game between the Warhawks and rival Louisiana Tech. Instead the announced crowd of 4,107 saw the Bulldogs beat the home standing team 83-61.
Louisiana Tech (10-3) used hot shooting and defense that included 11 turnovers to keep ULM (3-4) at bay on just 38.7% shooting. The Bulldogs shot 57.1% in the game, including 60.9% in the second half. In the second half, Tech built the game's largest margin, 28 points.
Junior Tylor Ongwae came up just short of his career high with a game high 20 points. Joining him in double-digit scoring were Jayon James with 14 and Amos Olatayo with 11.
The Warhawks now get a few days off to prepare for the year-end finale at Ohio State on December 27. Louisiana-Lafayette will come to Fant-Ewing on Saturday, January 4.
