Manton named POW

MONROE, La. -- ULM's Justin Manton has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Special Teams Player of the Week, the LSWA announced this afternoon.

Manton recorded a career-long 77-yard punt in ULM's road contest at Baylor and his booming third-quarter punt is tied for the second longest punt in ULM history. He is tied with John Kelly who had a 77-yard punt at McNeese State on Oct. 13, 1962.

Manton also recorded a 69-yard punt in the fourth-quarter at Baylor, which places him in a tied for eighth-place in program history. In all, Manton punted nine times for 479 yards (53.2 avg) with five punts of 50 or more yards, three touchbacks, one inside the 20. He also kicked off twice for 130 yards (65.0 avg) and two touchbacks. Manton was also named one of College Football Performance Awards' Honorable Mention Punters of the Week (Sept. 23).

ULM will return to the gridiron on Saturday when they host Tulane in the final non-conference game of 2013.
