Breard picks Warhawks

The 2011 signing class picked up a big commitment at a key position earlier this week, as linebacker Sean Breard gave his pledge to Head Coach Todd Berry and the rest of the ULM coaching staff to become a Warhawk.
"ULM didn't offer until I actually came on campus and met the coaches, and I really like that," Breard said. "I stopped by over the summer and met with Coach Berry, the defensive coordinator (Troy Reffett), Leon Lett, and coach (Adam) Waugh. Whenever I was there I really liked the coaches and the atmosphere, so I went with my gut and committed."

ULM coaches were eager to offer the 6'4" 194 linebacker from Little Elm, Texas after his junior season earned him all-district honors at safety, despite only playing the position for half the season. The remaining portion of the season was spent at linebacker where he has continued playing into this season.
This position switch was nothing new for Breard though.
"There's nothing that I excel at, but I'm really versatile," he said. "I've played just about every position there is in football; quarterback, running back, tight end in goal line situations, and I'm the punter (kicking an 80 yard punt in the second game of the season)."
Not only will opponents want to stay clear of Breard on the field, but off the field too. Breard is a second degree black belt in Taekwondo.
"I like defense because I get to deal out hits," he said. "My karate background helped me because when a lot of people have problems growing into their bodies and getting coordinated; I was able to adjust by having my training and already had quickness and hand-eye coordination. It just put me ahead of the game."
Breard has continued to be ahead of the competition his senior season having already tallied 60tackles, eight sacks, five pass breakups, and a pair of interceptions.
In addition to standing out in football, Breard is a star in track where he competes in the long jump, triple jump, and the 110 hurdles; something that he would like to continue at ULM.
"I don't really know the coach's stance on it, but I would like to continue doing it in college too," he said.
Offers for his football services were extended by Air Force, New Mexico State, and North Texas before his commitment to the Warhawks.
