As it draws nearer to the first game, a sense of excitement poured forward from Coach Viator during his first weekly press conference of the season. Coach Viator, ULM players, and fans are all ready to see the Warhawks play against a different colored jersey than their own. Here are 5 takeaways I had from his press conference.

1. The Two Deep Isn't Law

Some coaching staffs will not change from the two-deep or starting rotation at all; Coach Viator is not one of those people. While the two-deep was released today, expect to see a lot of rotation of players in and out, both on offense and defense. With Coach Viator practicing at such a fast speed in fall camps, he believes the first game or two will help with conditioning as well: "We don't go into a game saying a guy is going to get 80 snaps the first game. You may see a defensive lineman get 30 snaps the first game, then go up 10 the second, and on from there." Viator will also use a lot of guys on offense, saying: "We'll use at least three Tight Ends, Four Running Backs, and around ten receivers. Guys are gonna play." The offensive line will also have some movement, as the three tackles Rey Balatzar, Keaton Baggs, and Eastwood Thomas will rotate between left and right tackle. Jeff Savage will start at center, but will also play some at guard with Bobby Reynolds coming in to play some at center.
