85 tackles, 16 for loss, and three sacks were the junior stats for defensive tackle Alex Devine of Bossier City, La.'s Parkway High. His senior season could land him bigger numbers though as he looks to shift over to defensive end in 2013.
"This year I will get the chance to play both end and tackle," the big 6'1", 305 pound Devine said. "I'm excited for the change and am working hard on my speed and lifting to get stronger this off season. My speed is good for run stopping, but I need to work more on my pass rush."
Early interest in landing his commitment has come from Louisiana-Lafayette, but after a standout performance at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Dallas could change that.
"The camp was a great experience," he said. "I met a lot of great players, and the learned some more moves to help me off the line."
One additional lesson Devine learned at the Rivals Camp was to have more patience with facing off against opposing linemen. Something that he knows needs to carry over to his recruitment.
"I know that I just need to have patience for more offers to come my way," Devine said. "I'm a big Christian, so I know I just have to turn it over to Him and He will make it happen. I'm doing my part by hitting the weight room and focusing on getting better."
