The first full season under Head Coach Will Roberts came to a close in dramatic fashion in the Sun Belt Conference tournament, with the Warhawk's falling on penalty kicks to Georgia Southern. The season though can be marked a success, with the women's soccer program seeing its highest RPI ranking in school-history; 59th, progressing from the season's starting point of 211.

"It was a good first season and I'm really happy at how the team met our goals this year," Roberts said. "Last year we missed the conference tournament and that was something we wanted to push for this season. We want to make a push for winning the west, but really came about a game away from accomplishing that, finishing second."

ULM returned 11 from last season's team, including six starters. None excelled more though than returning first-team All-Louisiana mid-fielder Inge Konst. Her 25 points, 10 goals five assist, placed her fourth in program history for single season points.

"We changed a few things with the formation, and it really played to our strengths," he said. "The change really fit the personnel that we had. It still took a little bit in the season to complete the adjustment, but it worked out well. It really puts us in position to make a push for the conference title in the coming season."

Junior mid-fielder Mara Grutkamp recorded a team high seven assist on the season, moving her into the second place in the program's record book. Fellow mid-fielder Skyler Blaise saw action in 18 games and recording 11 points on the season.

ULM went toe-to-toe against the league's top teams, including Georgia Southern, JMU, South Alabama, and ODU.

"We tied four of the best teams we faced," Roberts said. "There were times that we thought we could've gotten wins in three of the four, and we surrendered a goal in the final minutes against ODU and lost to Georgia Southern on penalty kicks."

The offensive production was key to the Warhawk's success, but defensively, Roberts feels the loss of senior Lucia Lobato will be a key departure for his program.

"She played her five years here but looks to be in a position to continue playing professionally, so that's exciting to see her get that opportunity. She such an incredible player."

Goalkeeper Mickaela Leal saw her goals-against average fall to .74 on the season, while posting a 5-0-4 record in goal.

With the season other though, Roberts is already shifting his focus to next season.

"I think where we are rated nationally is a huge selling point for us," he said. "When you look at the teams that are behind us, teams like Kentucky and Ole Miss are behind us that players looking to transfer can get some more minutes at a higher rated program. Internationally, they really look at the style of play, the coaches, and also the relationship they have with the players on the team already. I feel that we can recruit more regionally in Louisiana and Texas and we are more in the conversation. The facilities that we have are great with a theater style room for meetings and the on-campus dorms are all really big selling points for us. I can't really talk about the facilities for other sports, but for us its great for us."

2024 season will include games against Oklahoma and potentially Oklahoma State.
