ULMs newest player Darius Prelow

The newest Warhawk has signed with ULM. Darius Prelow signed with ULM on Wednesday as a late qualifier and will look to join the team in mid-July to prepare for the upcoming season. Darius comes from Shreveport, La.'s Southwood High School and will make the transition from running back to defensive back.
"He's a tremendous athlete, that received many post season accolades including several all-district and all-city awards," former Southwood head coach Scott Abernathy said. "He'll be a great addition for ULM."

Initially Prelow received interest from La. Tech, Arkansas, and Southern Miss; however those schools backed away after a low ACT score made even Darius think of the junior college route. "I was all prepared to go to Joliet (Junior College) in Chicago, Il., but I finally made a good enough score on my ACT to fully qualify," Darius said of his college options.
As a junior, Darius had over 350 yards of total offense versus the traditionally powerful West Monroe, La. High School. "He is a great athlete; we just didn't have the best of offensive lines to block for him. He was having to run 20 or 30 times a game" Coach Abernathy said of Darius' numbers. For his senior season, Darius rushed for just under 900 yards and six scores.
