Warhawks basketball get first commitment

ULM Head Basketball Coach Orlando Early has landed his first Warhawk for the 2009 class. OP Walker's Colby Carr committed to ULM on Tuesday and will satisfy the need at the guard position.
"I'm a good hard worker and I think it's a good choice," Carr said of choosing ULM. "I'm looking forward to getting some good play time as a freshman." Colby will come to ULM at a time when the majority of the guards will have only one year of eligibility remaining.

"He's a big time scorer, but they just don't make them like him any more," OP Walker head coach Bertrand said of Colby. "He looks to pass the ball, but can score too."
Last season, Carr led OP Walker to a state runner-up title, as they fell to Helen Cox and Georgetown signee Greg Monroe. On the season, Colby averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds. "Last season was a good year, probably the best of my basketball career. My main goal this year is to get back to the state championship and win it this time." Walker head coach Bertrand echoed this feeling by calling Carr the backbone of the returning team.
Colby chose ULM over Sun Belt Conference foes Arkansas-Little Rock and UNO. He plans on majoring in sports medicine at ULM.
