Warhawk fans are now hoping that their latest commit, Anthony Monken will be the next big name to join his uncle, cousin, and dad respectfully.
"It was a spectacular weekend," the 6'5, 205 pound quarterback commitment said to WarhawkReport.com. "The coaches, in particular coach (Adam) Waugh, started calling me a few weeks ago and offered me. I was excited and wanted to jump at the chance then, but I'm glad I waited, because I loved coming down to ULM."
Monken and his family unofficially visited the campus of ULM for the homecoming game against Georgia State. There he was greeted by numerous friendly faces making the Libertyville, Illi. Standout feel welcome, while reuniting Waugh with his former high school coach, Tony Monken.
"If one thing really stood out to me it was just how friendly the people and the coaches were, and how welcoming they are," Monken said. "With a great staff like they have, I just knew it was the right place."
2013 saw Monken take over starting duties, and while he struggled at first, the hard work that he put in over the summer and some additional coaching helped him to step his game up.
"My dad, who coached at a neighboring school, retired at the first of the year to see my senior season; that meant a lot to me," he said. "He really helped to push me over the summer to condition and to throw when I didn't want to and it paid off. This fall I plan on playing basketball to stay in shape and get ready for college football."
