Wiggs looking to kick

The kicking aspect of football is often overlooked. Kickers seem to be on the outside of the team's inner circle until called upon in clutch situations for game winning kicks.
With this in mind, ULM has been on the look for a strong kicker to solidify its kicking game. One candidate has solid bloodlines in kicking and has himself made a name for himself.

Jordan Wiggs of South Grand Prarie, Texas is a three year starter for the Warriors. After handling just the placekicking duties his sophomore season, the 5'9" soccer style kicker also took on the punting duties. During his junior season, Wiggs connected on 8-9 field goals with a pair from 47-yards out and missed just two PATs.
"Several of my field goals were key points and the difference in games that were won by just a few points," Wiggs said of his offensive contributions. Two of the Warriors games this past season were decided by three or fewer points.
The strong and accurate leg of Wiggs is not unexpected though. Jordan's older brother Caron is now the starting kicker for Purdue. The elder Wiggs was an honorable mention All-Big Ten and Lou Groza Award watch list candidate during the 2009 season.
With a strong pedigree like this, Jordan Wiggs will be strong kicking prospect in the class of 2011. Interest has already begun to be shown by teams coast-to-coast, as Cincinnati, Kansas, Iowa, ULM, and Washington have all expressed interest in landing his kicking services next season.
