Circumstances

limited ULM
class=SpellE>'s offensive approach in the loss to
w:st="on">Arkansas State
when an early deficit forced the Warhawks to go to
their passing attack for most of the game.
But it's no
secret the Warkhawks are going to have to get more
out of their running game as the season progresses
style='mso-spacerun:yes'> "We've got to lean on our front a little bit
more," said offensive coordinator Steve Farmer, who also carries the title of
assistant head coach. "We got to get a little more production out of our o-line
and our tight ends to open up some running lanes for our running backs.
"That's the
biggest thing we talked about yesterday when we talked to the kids. The theme
of the week is to play more physical. You've got to do that in order to be a
successful football team."
ULM is
averaging a mediocre 120 rushing yards a game after two outings, but the main
problem is that the leading rusher is quarterback Kolton
Browning.
Browning has
run for a net 108 yards, 50 more than running back Frank Goodin
has heading into the home opener against Southeastern
Louisiana.
class=SpellE>Goodin is 816 yards away from becoming the career leading
rusher for the Warhawks.
color:black'>Goodin
Arial;color:black'> had only six carries against
w:st="on">Arkansas State
for 14 yards.
"We got away
from the run pretty quick," Farmer said. "But there was not a lot of success on
the runs we attempted. And then the score got lopsided in a hurry."

STRATEGY
AND PERSONNEL

This Week
style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>
Arial;color:black'>'s Game
Arial;color:black'>: Southeastern Louisiana at ULM,
Sept. 25-After back-to-back trips to the state of
w:st="on">Arkansas and losses to
the Razorbacks and Red Wolves, the Warhawks are due
for a little respite. Competing at the FCS level, the Lions are 1-2, but their
losses are by a combined seven points. They lost their opener by six at Tulane
and are coming off a one-point loss at home to Lamar.
Keys
class=GramE>To The Game:
font-family:Arial;color:black'> Get the running game going. The
class=SpellE>Warhawks have rushed for 240 yards in two games and face a
defense that is holding opponents to 91 a game on the ground. The offense needs
to come through in the red zone, where it has only two scores (both touchdowns)
in four trips inside the opponent's 20-yard line.
Players
class=GramE>To Watch:
font-family:Arial;color:black'>
QB
class=SpellE>Kolton Browning-After struggling
at Arkansas, Browning came alive with 350
yards total offense in the loss to Arkansas
State. He leads the
class=SpellE>Warhawks in rushing with 108 yards on the season.
RB Frank
class=SpellE>Goodin-Goodin entered the season
looking like a sure bet to leave with the school's all-time rushing record. But
he has gotten off to a slow start with just 58 yards rushing through the first
two games. He needs to have a big game to get back on track.
DE Ken Dorsey-
class=GramE>After a quiet three years, the junior is showing up in many
different categories through the first two games. Among his nine tackles are
2.5 for losses, and he has forced and recovered a fumble and gotten credit for
a quarterback hurry in addition to his 1.5 sacks.
Roster
Report:
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:black'>CB Nate Brown (leg) sat
out the game against Arkansas
w:st="on">State but is probable for Southeastern
Louisiana. He had a streak of 15 consecutive starts snapped when
he sat out the last game.
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:black'>LT Justin Roberts should
also return this week. Roberts had started 23 straight games before the injury.
