Two teams with major midweek wins giving them momentum into the Sun Belt Conferences series in Statesboro, Ga. on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
ULM is coming off a thrilling 5-3 win at Alabama. GSU defeated Georgia 2-1 on Tuesday.
The win by ULM was its second win over an SEC opponent this year and snapped 6 game losing streak.
One key that many might not have realized was so many mounting injuries for the Warhawks including one of their heavy hitters Danny DeSimone who hit a three-run homer in his return to the lineup. Michael Cervantes hit a two-run single in the eighth inning for the go ahead run.
Another key that the Warhawks must have this weekend is continued solid contributions from its bullpen which had major trouble at Texas State and against UL-Lafyette.
Reid Goleman, Lucae Wepf, Trey Lindsay (who picked up the win), Landon Longsworth, and Carson Orton combined for 7.2 innings of incredible work to keep the Crimson Tide at bay.
This series is also important in a sense that both teams are in the bottom half of the SBC standings and a series win can get the Warhawks back in contention for a good tournament seeding.
The Eagles feature five batters hitting above .300 for the season including leader Mason McWhorter who is batting .389 with 8 homers and 9 doubles.
The teams also play at 1 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday to finish the series
