For the second time in the 2024 season, Malone Stadium was featured on the national stage as ESPNU showcased the regular season finale between Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM. With hosting the conference title on the line for the Rain Cajuns, and the Warhawks looking to claim bowl eligibility, Bill Davis scored with just over a minute left in the game to seal a 37-23 victory for Louisiana-Lafayette.

ULM (5-7, 3-5) saw Ahmad Hardy continue to shine, surpassing the 100-yard mark for the eighth time this season, with 176 yards and a late fourth quarter score.

ULL (10-2, 7-1) had a solid rushing performance of their own from Zylan Perry, totaling 150 yards on the ground and a pair of scores.

ULMโ€™s initial drive looked to be cut short, with an Aiden Armenta pass to Jacob Godfrey being ruled a fumble, but the recovering Cajun was out of bounds, allowing the Warhawks to keep possession. The drive stalled at mid-field forcing a punt.

The Warhawks would break onto the scoreboard on Max Larsonโ€™s 25 yard field goal with 7:26 left in the opening quarter. The eight play scoring drive was setup by Lynard Harrisโ€™ first career interception in just his second career start.

Zylan Perry put the Cajuns on the board with a one-yard run setup by Armentaโ€™s third down pass being intercepted by Kody Jackson, his second on the season. Wydett Williams blocked the PAT to make the score 6-3.

ULM retook the lead on Armenta's eighth passing touchdown on the season, connecting with Tyler Griffin for a seven yard score.

Teams traded turnovers later in the second quarter, with ULM recovering a Perry fumble. The momentum from the turnover was short lived though as Armentaโ€™s first pass from scrimmage was again intercepted by Jackson. The Cajuns capitalized on the miscue by putting together a 12 play, 88 yard touchdown drive to retake the lead 13-10.

Larson connected on his second attempt of the game, a 47 yard field goal inside of a minute remaining in the opening half, letting the teams take a 13 all score into the intermission. Larson would connect again in the third quarter from 29 yards out.

Louisiana-Lafayette returns home now to host the SBC title game, facing either Georgia Southern or Marshall depending on late Saturday outcomes.
