Brown named Louisiana defensive player of the week

BATON ROUGE, La.—Playing in just his second collegiate game, ULM redshirt freshman Nate Brown recorded 12 tackles and a sack against Arkansas on Saturday earning him Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Wichita Falls, Texas, native was the only player in the game to record double-figure tackles. He also broke up a pass as the Warhawks came within a point, 28-27, of their second victory over a Southeastern Conference opponent in their past three tries.

Brown, one of two freshmen who start for the Warhawks, had 11 solo tackles from his cornerback position. His seven-yard sack of Casey Dick set up a blocked punt and a ULM field goal, giving the Warhawks a 10-6 lead heading into halftime.
For the season, Brown leads the Warhawks with 19 tackles (17 solo) and a pair of pass breakups.
The Warhawks open play at Malone Stadium this week against Alabama A&M.
