Streak stops, Warhawks win

The Warhawks had not experienced the taste of victory in nearly a month enter the Tuesday night contest against Division II opponent Harding University. After a slow start, the Warhawks got back in the win column with a 74-61 victory.
"This win means a lot to for us," senior guard Tony Hooper said following the game. "We've been struggling on the road, and it's always good to come back home and defend our home territory."

The first half saw the two teams in a see-saw battle, as the Bison were able to squeak out a narrow 35-34 half-time lead. Helping the Warhawks to stay in the game was the strong play of junior Rudy Turner. Turner collected 13 of his 21 points in the first half, and accounting for 13 of ULM's 20 points in the paint. Adding to his night were 14 rebounds to give him his first double-double on the season.
Harding put together a good opening half of play, thanks to the hot three point shooting of Matt Garner. Garner connected on a pair of triples as he led the Bison with 9 first half points enroute to a 14 point performance. Also playing big for Harding was fellow guard Trent Morgan who added 14 points of his own.
ULM finally found their grove in the second half, as they managed to put together a 9-0 run to build a 68-53 lead. During that stretch, the solid play of senior Tony Hooper took over, as he poured in 9 of his 15 points in the half, while adding another 10 rebounds.
ULM will now take time off for the Christmas Holidays before returning to the hardwood on Monday, December 28 when they face off against NAIA member University of the Southwest in a 7:30 tip-off.
