ULM drops OT game to Auburn

With all the excitement and national attention the Warhawks drew from last week's win over #8 Arkansas, the question lingered just how ULM would respond for their week three game at Auburn. The questions were answered as ULM went toe to toe with their second straight SEC opponent before falling 31-28 in overtime.

The Warhawks had a chance to put points on the board in their overtime possession, but Justin Manton's 37 yard attempt was partially blocked. Auburn then played the conservative running game to setup a middle of the field second down, 35 yard field goal for Cody Parker; giving Auburn the win.

ULM came out swinging, as Kolton Browning put together a 12 play drive that resulted with a 4th and goal touchdown pass to redshirt freshman Harley Scioneaux from one-yard out for the early 7-0 lead.

Auburn answered quickly, piecing together a quick five play drive ending with an Onterio McCalebb 27 yard run to tie the game at seven.

ULM regained the lead on Browning's 39 yard scamper up the middle of the field.

Both teams flexed their defensive muscles, making key stops before Auburn put together a trick pass back play allowing quarterback Kiehl Frazier to haul in a pass from Quan Bray for a 33 yard score. The Tigers had lightning strike again as Frazier's hail mary to Sammie Coates gave Auburn the 21-14 lead headed into the intermission.

Auburn looked to put the game out of ULM's reach when the opening second half possession ended with a 1 yard Tre Mason run. The Tiger defense again flexed its strength, looking to shut the Warhawk offense down through all of the third and the majority of the fourth.

ULM then got help from Auburn to get back into the game, scoring with 6:15 left in the game. On the nine play drive; the Tigers were flagged for pass interference keeping the chains moving. ULM converted on if its four fourth down conversions to keep the drive alive, ending with Browning again connecting with Scioneaux for the score.
