The long road stretch for the ULM Warhawks wrapped up on Tuesday night with a stop at Tudor Fieldhouse on the campus of Rice University, but came away, falling 66 - 50.
Rice (2 - 1) took 4:30 to break onto the scoreboard, but closed out the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 27-21 lead into the intermission. Three Warhawk led the charge in the first half of action, with Jalen Bolden, Tyreese Watson, and Jacob Wiilson all posting five points.
ULM (1 – 2) came out of the locker room cold, scoring just four Makai Willis’ four free-throws through the first four minutes of the period. During this time the deficit swelled to 11 points.
Five quick points from Bolden and a layup for Wilson cut the deficit to four with 12:56 remaining in the contest but the Owls took advantage of the low shooting percentage from the Warhawks, 34% from the floor and 14% from three on the night, to out rebound ULM 44 - 35.
ULM now returns to Fant-Ewing Coliseum for a pair of game, tipping off Thursday, November 14 against Ecclesia and Monday, November 18 against Southeastern Louisiana. Rice will continue to face off against Louisiana teams, hosting Northwestern State before traveling to Louisiana-Lafayette.
