Warhawk GameDay

The Warhawks will finally take to the field in the friendly confines of

Malone Stadium. Despite this, ULM will once again don their road white
uniforms as the home opener will be the first ever White Out game. ULM
will square off against their third straight BCS school, having split the first
two games with SEC opponents. This week though the Baylor Bears
will enter the game with the nation's second longest winning streak and a
perfect 2-0 record this season.
What to watch for:
Special teams, especially kick and punt returns are in need of drastic
improvements for the Warhawks to setup possessions.
Cortney Davis
will need to show more discipline on returns, averaging under 10 yards per
return.
The secondary will be tested, as the Bear's offense is quick to the line
and quick to throw deep.
Vincent Eddie,
Isaiah Newsome, and
Cordero Smith will all need to be ready to make plays.
ULM's lone senior on the offensive line,
Jonathan Gill,
will be making his 37th career start for the Warhawks, and 14th straight.
30,101 is the current record crowd for a game in Malone Stadium.
2007 vs. Grambling
Spread:
Odds makers put the Warhawks as 7.5 point underdogs. Odds makers are expected a
full offensive assault though, as the over/under is set to 110.
Random things:
ULM is currently 0-6 against current members of the Big 12
conference, and have never played host to a Big 12 school.
The game will be the first meeting between ULm and Baylor.
33 Warhawks call Texas home, 2 Bears call Louisiana home.
ULM has traditionally been tough on opponents in its
home openers, posting a 27-7 (.794) record in contests over the previous
34 seasons.
Redshirt freshman
Harley Scioneaux is continuing a tight end tradition started by
Keavon
Milton. Milton held the distinction that his first four career
receptions were all for touchdowns; now Scioneaux collected his first
two receptions, both for scores.
