ULM (4-17, 3-12) shot a standout 63.3% in the second half of the contest, 56.4% for the game. Surprisingly the Warhawks were able to outscore North Texas (9-18, 4-12) in the paint 40-34. This was due to ULM using quick ball movement to break the Mean Green zone defense with back-door cuts, just surpassing their 13 assists average with 15. Tony Mitchell did tally five blocks in the paint, many should've been called goal tending.
Additionally North Texas was forced into 16 turnovers, and the Warhawks collected six steals.
The first half was a close battle, as the teams tied four times and traded leads six times. North Texas ended the back and forth battle in the first half with a 15-5 run, taking a 42-33 lead into the locker room. Propelling the Mean Green to their lead were a pair of players scoring in double-digits, Jordan Williams and Roger Franklin, each had 15. Each would end the game with 22.
The Warhawks remain at home when Sun Belt action resumes on Saturday. Arkansas State comes to the ULM campus, tip-off is set for 4pm.
