Warhawks pick up another; total commits now at 7

With the summer winding down, many dread the thought of returning to school. This is not the case with Ouachita Parish star safety Cameron Blakes. Blakes notified the coaching staff of ULM that he will be joining the class of 2009 Warhawks, as he committed.
"I like the way that they are going, they have a great program, a great campus, and I wanted to be a part of it," Cameron said of his decision to commit to the Warhawks. "ULM also runs a defensive scheme that is similar to the one we run, so I feel very comfortable there."

One other thing that made Blakes feel at home was the familiarity with a few of the Warhawk players. "I talked with (LaGregory) Sapp and Frank (Goodin) about their experiences there and they both just gave me sound advice and they welcomed me in," Cameron said.
This summer, he has been working out hard trying to ensure that this is the year that the Monroe, La. base Ouachita Parish School can return to the New Orleans Superdome for a chance at the class 5-A championship, something that was last won by the Lions in 1989.
Blakes chose ULM over offers from La. Tech, Tulane, and Tulsa.
