Warhawks wrap up Day One

The popping of pads has not yet begun, but the Warhawks did get an afternoon practice in to officially kickoff the 2009 season.
All players looked to be in great shape and in good spirits, something that left even higher hopes in seventh year head coach Charlie Weatherbie.

"We've got a long ways to go, but there was a lot of carry over from the spring and summer," Weatherbie said of the first day. This is the best we have ever done with the most guys coming in shape and actually passing the conditioning test."
Offensively, LaGregory Sapp came away with high praise from quarterback Trey Revell, as Sapp returned to the field after missing all of the 2008 season due to academics.
"Sapp had a great first day, he's been working real hard, and it's going to pay off for us," Revell said.
Across the ball on the defense, Senior linebacker Cardia Jackson get his first official taste of the new 3-3-5 scheme that defensive coordinator Troy Reffett is installing. "I love it," Jackson said with a huge smile on his face. "Every body running around and flying to the ball, it's going to make us a better team."
