NEW ORLEANS -- Senior outfielder Lourdes Bacon has been named to the Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday (May 7) afternoon. Bacon repeated as an all-conference player after earning All-Sun Belt Second Team honors in 2022.
A Warhawk has appeared on the All-Sun Belt Softball Team in 12 of the last 14 years. Bacon is the first ULM softball player to win multiple All-Sun Belt honors since Jayden Mount did so in 2021.
Bacon, a senior outfielder from San Antonio, Texas, led ULM with a .389 batting average, 70 hits, 40 runs and 25 stolen bases. She ended the season second in the Sun Belt in stolen bases, third in total hits and fifth in batting average. In conference play, Bacon ranked tied for sixth with 31 hits and tied for fifth with seven stolen bases.
She racked up a single-game, career-high four hits in ULM's game at Troy on April 13 after going 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. The UTSA transfer set a career-high in batting average, hits, runs scored, total bases and stolen bases in her final season. Bacon helped lead ULM to the most conference wins in a single season in program history and the most regular season wins since 1997.
Bacon and the No. 6-seed ULM softball team will play in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Thursday (May 9) against No. 3-seed South Alabama in San Marcos, Texas in the single-elimination tournament.
